Hyde Park

Home to the University of Chicago, Hyde Park is a college town that happens to be in the city of Chicago. Located 15 minutes from downtown via Lake Shore Drive, Hyde Park is an idyllic community of historic mansions on leafy streets, vintage and modern apartments, soaring Gothic cathedrals and Ivy League architecture. In Hyde Park, there is a sense of culture in the air. At Valois Cafeteria, a Hyde Park institution on the 53rd Street retail strip, patrons are known to linger after finishing their pancakes or Grecian chicken to engage in debates on politics, literature or art. The lakefront Hyde Park neighborhood also is home to The Museum of Science and Industry, and is the home neighborhood of our current President-Elect Barack Obama.
